General Assistance/Special Project Volunteer

YMCA of Montclair

There are typically many different tasks needing to be done at our busy Y. Help is always greatly appreciated with things such as: *Assisting with administrative/membership tasks like filing or making phone calls *Helping out at our special event like our Montclair Run *Lending a hand with maintenance or landscaping projects *Helping out the floor staff in the weight room (limited spots for this role) *Tabling for the Y at a community event in town (Pride. Jazz Fest, etc.) These are just a few ways in which a volunteer can share time and enthusiasm for the Y. These projects may be one-time only or ongoing, depending on the need and your schedule. For the safety of all, volunteers must do the following (please read through this carefully before starting the volunteer application process): -Sign a liability waiver -Sign a photo/video release -Sign a Code of Conduct -Provide three references -Conduct a brief (20 min) child abuse prevention training course -Participate in a virtual (Zoom) interview -Authorize a background check (adults over 18 only) Links to start the credentialing process will be provided when you “click” the VOLUNTEER and LEARN MORE buttons. Volunteers must be 14 years old. As soon as this process is complete, please reach out to Jen Grisafi at jgrisafi@montclairymca.org. YOU MAY NOT START YOUR VOLUNTEER WORK UNTIL YOU HAVE BEEN CLEARED. The YMCA of Montclair has zero-tolerance for abuse, mistreatment, or sexual activity among members, volunteers, employees, and program participants within the organization. In addition, our organization will not tolerate any behavior that is classified under the definition of bullying, and to the extent that such actions are harmful to the program, participants and the organization will take the necessary steps to eliminate such behavior.
